I just wanted to post about this image I just finished. On the road trip we passed through El Paso, Texas. This is a city that is right on the border of Mexico, there is even a part of the freeway that passes right next to the border. When we passed through the first time it was dark, but it was shocking to see the juxtaposition of the two, and I vowed to take a photo on the way back.
On the left is the modern and beautiful University of Texas at El Paso, then across the freeway is the U.S.A./Mexico border, then beyond is the city of Juarez, Mexico. I’ve included a crop of the above panorama to get a better view of Juarez.
As you can see Juarez is mostly dirt roads and small shacks. I know that most people understand the living conditions in Mexico are much lower than the U.S.A., but to see it first hand and to see them side by side was a whole different experience. I wish I could have spent much more time and found an even better location to get a photo, but this road trip was on a tight timeline.
